KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 — Billion Dollar Whale authors Tom Wright and Bradley Hope have claimed that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho has been using proxies, including his wife Jesselynn Chuan, to open bank accounts and even to join a posh yacht club in Hong Kong.
In the latest episode of Finding Jho Low on their YouTube channel dubbed "Project Brazen”, Hope said that Chuan has been the main conduit for Low’s activities as her name was allegedly found in a lot of bills related to the Penang-born fugitive, including an application to join the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.
"We found an application to join the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. This is from a source at the yacht club and there’s a lot of interesting metadata here,” said Hope as he explained Chuan’s details in the application form that was shared in the video.
"So one of the things in the document is that she describes herself as a group investment director for a company in Hong Kong called Kinetic Profit Company Limited and another thing that’s interesting in there is that she has a bank account at ICBC in Hong Kong.”
ICBC is the abbreviation for Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), a Chinese multinational bank.
Hope said that Chuan has known Low since they were children as she was also born in Penang and had been the latter’s "number one girlfriend” before they married and had children together.
He also claimed that sources from business intelligence firm Alaco told them that Kinetic Profit was allegedly connected with Low by way of a cousin who is said to be a company director.
In the same document provided by the sources, Hope said that Kinetic Profit was once acquired by a company dubbed Ruskin Overseas Limited that was based in tax haven British Virgin Islands and has a real estate subsidiary in Shanghai, China.
"It’s a historic company and at one point was acquired by a British Virgin Islands company called Ruskin Overseas Limited. It also has a Shanghai, a mainland China-based real estate subsidiary, which is interesting, because we have also heard that Jho Low is still in the kind of real estate business,” he added.
Wright and Hope have been on a quest to determine Low’s whereabouts and previously shared a photo on Twitter that they claimed showed Low in Shanghai Disneyland on Christmas Eve 2019.
An Interpol Red Notice was issued for Low in 2016. He is wanted in several countries including Malaysia, Singapore and the United States in connection with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal.
