KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 ― Malaysia's new Covid-19 infections rose again today, surpassing the 3,000-mark.
In an update on Twitter, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country logged 3,175 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24-hour period.
This brings the country's cumulative cases to 2,792,035.
"A total of 2,977 cases recovered from the infection bringing the total cumulative recovered cases to 2,720,399.
"Of the new infections, 372 were import cases (224 citizens; 48 non-citizens); while local cases are 2,903 (2,745 citizens; 158 non-citizens),” Dr Noor Hisham said in a statement later today.
According to Dr Noor Hisham, cases requiring treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) are 229 cases (200 Covid-19 confirmed cases; 29 suspected cases, probabilities, and cases under investigation).
"As for cases requiring respiratory assistance, there are 99 cases (68 confirmed Covid-19 cases; 31 suspected cases, probabilities, and cases under investigation),” he said.
On update of clusters, there are nine new clusters bringing the total number of clusters to 6,176 clusters.
"Clusters which have stopped their infection rate are 5,998, active cluster are 178,” he said.
Out of the 3,175 new cases reported today, 60 cases (1.9 per cent) were categories 3, 4, and 5; while 3,115 cases (98.1 per cent) were from categories 1 and 2.
