KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — Malaysia recorded 4,879 new Covid-19 infections, a slight uptick from yesterday’s low of 4,239 cases.
Previously the lowest recorded number of daily infections was 4,343 cases on November 7.
With the latest numbers, the total confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country now stands at 2,632,782 since the pandemic began last year.
In his daily statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah revealed that there were 509 individuals requiring intensive care treatment, of which 394 were confirmed Covid-19 cases and the remaining 115 under investigation.
"Of the 511, a total of 252 require breathing assistance,” he said.
The number of recoveries also surpassed today’s figure at 5,168 people.
On the overall cases reported, Dr Noor Hisham said 79 cases or 1.6 per cent were of Categories 3, 4 and 5 patients.
Today’s infection involved 4,855 Malaysians with 177 cases detected among non-locals.
Apart from that, another nine new clusters were registered today for a combined total of 231 active clusters to date.
Dr Noor Hisham also said the nationwide Covid-19 infectivity rate — denoted as R-naught, R0 or Rt — was at 0.95, with Labuan the highest at 1.12, followed by Perlis at 1.03. Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Pahang, Kedah, Perak and Penang at 1.0.
