KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 ― The Health Ministry today reported 5,594 new Covid-19 infections, a rise from yesterday’s 4,885 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah posted this update on his Twitter account that this brought the cumulative infections in the country to 2,597,080.
"A total of 4,908 cases recovered from the infection.
"Out of 5,594 cases, 24 are import cases (15 Malaysians and nine non-Malaysians).
"Locally transmitted cases are 5,570 with 5,297 Malaysians while 273 are non-Malaysians,” he said in a statement today.
Out of the new cases detected today 85 are under Category 3, 4 and 5; while 5,509 under Category 1 and 2.
Dr Noor Hisham also gave an update on patients who are currently treated in the intensive care unit (532) with 424 confirmed Covid-19 cases while 108 are suspect cases and persons under surveillance.
"A total of 266 are in need of breathing aid (168 confirmed, 98 suspected and persons under surveillance),” he said.
As for updates on new clusters, 10 new infection clusters were detected today.
This brings the cumulative clusters to 5,898, with 5,667 clusters that have ended their infection period.
"There are 231 active clusters at the moment,” he added.
