KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — The Ministry of Health (MoH) recorded 6,060 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24-hour period.
This means today saw a drop of 417 cases from yesterday’s figure of 6,377 infections.
Cumulatively, the total number of cases recorded in Malaysia since the start of the pandemic is now 2,460,809.
From the new cases, only 1.7 per cent or 105 cases were placed under Categories 3, 4 and 5 — meaning they have a lung infection or worse.
There are currently 570 patients warded in Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) — of which 78 are suspected but yet to be confirmed Covid-19 patients — with 300 of these people needing breathing assistance.
Meanwhile, 7,297 patients recovered from the disease, increasing the country’s recovery rate to 92.6 per cent.
At the same time, 11 new clusters were reported today, comprising four workplace clusters, four education related clusters, two "community” clusters, and one "high-risk group” cluster.
There are 460 clusters still active in Malaysia, with the cumulative total of clusters detected numbering 5,763.
Regarding Rt or infectivity rates, Negri Sembilan topped today’s list with an Rt of 1.04, followed by Kuala Lumpur (0.99), along with Melaka and Putrajaya (0.98 each).
Selangor came next with an Rt of 0.95.
All other states and federal territories had an Rt lower than the national average of 0.95.
