KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force’s walk-in vaccination initiative for elderly, persons with disabilities (PwD) and among others will now be available nationwide, it announced today.

Other than elderly and PwD, the national task force mentioned that individuals above 18 years old with comorbidities, those who missed their second dose vaccination appointment, teachers and workers under Ministry of Education (MoE), can also join in.

"In ensuring that vaccination efforts continue to be enhanced nationwide, the walk-in vaccination initiative being implemented in the Klang Valley will be expanded to Public Vaccination Centres (PPV) throughout Malaysia for specific groups in the near future,” it said.

The statement said that the announcement came after a few states including Perak, Kedah, Penang, Sabah, Melaka and Sarawak had already allowed walk-in vaccination initiatives for elderly, as well as Kelantan through pre-booking.

It added that for Klang Valley residents who wish to walk-in for the first dose because there is no appointment, they would have to go to the PPVs that have been listed before as walk-ins to the previously listed PPVs.

The statement said that the vaccination centres that are listed as available for walk-in also no longer start at 2pm as the operating hours depend on the respective PPVs.

Earlier this week, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said states can announce and carry out their own Covid-19 walk-in vaccination programmes for senior citizens.

He said the states have been given the authority to decide and no longer have to wait for permission from the federal CITF.

The walk-in initiative was first announced for senior citizens in the Klang Valley on July 16.
