KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 — Malaysia’s daily new Covid-19 cases have fallen today, but still remains above the 6,000-threshold value.
Today is the sixth consecutive day that the country has recorded more than 6,000 cases in a day.
The Health Ministry tweeted that 6,045 new Covid-19 cases were detected over the past 24 hours.
With the addition of the 6,045 new cases, Malaysia now has a total cumulative figure of 778,652 cases recorded since the pandemic started.
More than one-third of the new cases today or 37.4 per cent were from Selangor at 2,262 cases.
Three other locations — Kuala Lumpur at 616 new cases, Negri Sembilan (531) and Johor (500) — together with Selangor accounted for almost 65 per cent of the new cases today.
The other states with new cases reported in the three-digits are Perak (384), Sarawak (365), Kedah (332), Melaka (290), Sabah (228), Penang (173) and Kelantan (124).

Currently, the entire country is under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan which features the tightest restrictions.
However, five states — Kelantan, Pahang, Perlis, Perak, Terengganu — will move into the slightly more relaxed Phase 2 from tomorrow (July 5) onwards as these states have met the required thresholds in terms of the seven-day average for new Covid-19 cases, Intensive Care Units (ICU) beds usage and vaccination rate.
Malaysia’s Rt value, or the average number of persons who would be infected by a Covid-19 positive person over a seven-day moving window, is at 1.07, as of the latest data on July 3.
As of July 3, the state with the highest estimated Rt value with a 14-day moving window is Pahang at 1.24, while others above the 1.0 threshold are Putrajaya (1.16), Melaka (1.12), Selangor (1.08), Kuala Lumpur (1.04), Penang (1.02) and Sabah (1.01).
