Health Ministry: Malaysia records another 6,982 Covid-19 cases

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — The Ministry of Health reported 6,982 new Covid-19 cases in the country in the last 24 hours.

This means Malaysia has recorded more than 6,000 daily cases for four consecutive days, with new infections numbering 6,988 yesterday.

In terms of states, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor topped the list once again with 2,907 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (637) and Negri Sembilan (606).

Johor was the next highest with 517 cases, ahead of Sarawak (440), Penang (351), Pahang (329), Kedah (257), Sabah (230), Melaka (202), Perak (182), Labuan (131), Kelantan (129), Terengganu (44), and Putrajaya (20).

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 17 new Covid-19 clusters, including nine from workplaces, five within the general community, and three within a high risk group.

He added that the clusters with the highest increase in new cases today are the Kilometer 85 Mukah cluster (92 cases), Persiaran Mardi cluster (52 cases) and Tanjung Pitas cluster (43 cases).
