KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 — Workplace related infections continue to contribute to the burgeoning Covid-19 clusters, with 10 out 13 recorded across six states today.

Of the remaining three clusters, the Health Ministry said one was an infection within the community in Pengkalan Teras, Terengganu.

Another was traced to an infection within a detention centre in Perak, which was dubbed Tembok Tapah. The cluster, located on Jalan Tapah in Batang Padang, Perak saw 64 people test positive for Covid-19.

The last non-workplace cluster was traced to an infection that started within a high-risk group in Selangor and called the Jalan Cheras cluster.

To date, Malaysia has recorded 996 Covid-19 clusters of which 489 remain active.

The largest number of infections from a cluster recorded today is the Jalan Senai Utama in Kulai, Johor where 121 were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive from a targeted screening of 414 people at a factory there.

The Jalan Cheras cluster involved a care centre in Kajang, Selangor. Its index cases were reported positive for Covid-19 today. Public health officials have since screened 182 people and found 24 positive for the coronavirus.

The number of active clusters in Selangor—namely Jalan Cheras, Jalan Tiga Belas, Jalan Bursa, Jalan Tropicana, and Jalan Kepong—have recorded 149 cases combined and is one of the reasons the state continued to occupy top spot nationwide with 910 out of today’s 2,176 new cases.
