Health Ministry: 3,384 new Covid-19 cases, 13 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 — The Ministry of Health today (MoH) today reported 3,384 Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today said this brings the total active cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia to 55,570 and the death toll to 936.

He said there were 3,774 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 202,269; or 79.3 per cent of all cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said 15 of the new cases recorded today were imported, while the remainder was from local transmissions.

Of the 13 who died, he said the youngest were two Malaysian women aged 38. Both had pre-existing medical conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension.

The remaining people who succumbed to the illness were aged between 40 and 87. Only two of them were non-Malaysians.

The highest number of cases among the states and Federal Territories today was recorded in Selangor, with 1,082 cases.

This was followed by Johor (777 cases), Kuala Lumpur (435 cases), Kedah (228 cases), Sarawak (184 cases) and Penang (144 cases),

Perlis recorded the lowest amount of new cases with only four today.

There are 259 Covid-19 patients currently warded in intensive care units (ICU), with 122 of them needing breathing assistance.
