Health Ministry: 13 new clusters today, 12 from workplaces in eight states

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 ― The Ministry of Health data today showed 13 new Covid-19 clusters were detected today with 12 of them related to infection within workplaces.

All the workplace clusters are spread out within eight states, with five of them detected within the Klang Valley as well as Putrajaya.

The other cluster is confined to a detention centre in Kelantan.

To date, Malaysia has 412 active Covid-19 clusters out of 851 cumulative clusters since the pandemic struck the country.

In a list provided by the Health Ministry, Selangor still tops with the most cases recorded in the past 24 hours, with 1,572 cases, with 852 cases from existing clusters and another 65 cases from two new clusters namely the Jalan City and Jalan Aman clusters.

The ministry said 457 other positive covid-19 cases were detected through close contact tracing and 263 cases were from other Covid-19 screening in Selangor.

For Johor, 215 new infections were detected from existing clusters as well as 54 cases from the new clusters ― Jalan Pulai 55 and Batu Tiga Setengah.

In Kuala Lumpur, 18 cases were detected from two new clusters ― Taman Koperasi and Kandi Sungai Besi.

For Putrajaya, a total of 14 cases were detected in the past 24 hours; nine traced to a new constitution site cluster in Precinct 7.

In Kelantan, the new Tembok Pengakalan Chepa cluster, which is confined to a detention centre, has detected 41 new cases so far.
