KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has confirmed today that its application to register itself has also been rejected by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), following news that Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s application had failed.
A representative from Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s party said the RoS had sent a letter informing the rejection through email yesterday.
"Yes, Muda's application was rejected by RoS via email yesterday,” a spokesman told Malay Mail.
In a copy of the email sighted by Malay Mail, RoS did not state its reason for rejecting the application.
Muda later released a statement saying the party had fully cooperated with RoS during the process, and it saw no concrete reason for its application to be rejected.
The party then added that the government has denied its right of association, and to participate in the democratic process of the country.
It also alleged that the rejection was Perikatan Nasional (PN) government’s agenda to prevent Muda from participating in the next general election.
It also said that Muda will consider legal action alongside other options regarding the rejection.
On December 22 last year, it was reported that Muda had appointed former attorney general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas and Malaysian Bar ex-president Datuk Seri Ambiga Sreevenasan to lead the legal battle for the party’s registration.
