Six new Covid-19 clusters detected, including UD SS2 in PJ

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 — Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today that six new clusters have been identified in Klang Valley and Sabah.

The two new clusters in Klang Valley were dubbed the UD SS2 cluster in the Petaling district, Selangor, and the Tapak Bina Awan Baru cluster in Kepong and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

"The index patient of the UD SS2 cluster was detected through asymptomatic screening on November 27.

"As of today, 40 people went for screening and detected 13 more Covid-19 positive cases,” he wrote in a statement.

Meanwhile in Sabah, four new clusters were dubbed the PTS Sibuga, Tapak Bina Jesselton, Dermaga and Temasuk clusters.

The index case of the PTS Sibuga cluster in Sandakan, Sabah was confirmed to be a Covid-19 positive case on November 28.

"Contact tracing was conducted on a total of 324 people and 104 were found positive under this cluster,” Dr Noor Hisham said.

Meanwhile in Kota Kinabalu, the Tapak Bina Jesselton cluster was found to have originated from a Covid-19 positive case discovered through workplace screening on November 28.

He added that close contact screenings were conducted and 44 more positive cases were detected.

Another cluster in Sabah dubbed Dermaga was found to have originated from a Covid-19 positive case on October 24 through individual asymptomatic screening.

"As of 12pm today, 90 have been screened under the Rajawali cluster with 10 more positive cases found, 25 tested negative and the remaining 65 are waiting for results,” he added in a statement.

In Kota Belud, the Temasuk cluster’s index case was discovered on October 24 through individual asymptomatic screening.

In Kuala Lumpur, the cluster dubbed Tapak Bina Awan Baru involves an area in Kepong and Cheras discovered on November 28 through targeted construction area screenings.

As of today, 40 have gone through screenings and 31 were found positive.

Dr Noor Hisham added that two clusters — Menara and Simera — ended today.
