Of the 23 new cases registered today, 13 were local transmissions with the remaining 10 imported, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

"From the 23 local transmissions recorded, 10 were Malaysians and three non-Malaysians.

"Therefore, the number of active cases with Covid-19 infectability to date is 632 and all have been isolated for treatment,” he said during his bi-weekly press briefing here.

Six patients recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,209 cases, or 92.04 per cent of Covid-19 cases overall.

In addition, 14 people are undergoing treatment in intensive care and four require breathing assistance.

No new deaths were reported.

Of the 10 imported Covid-19 cases reported, Dr Noor Hisham said four were from the Philippines and one each from Hungary, Turkey, Qatar, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Morocco.

He also pointed out that today’s local transmissions were all detected in Sabah where the state is currently having an election.

"Eight of them were from a new cluster in Kunak, Sabah; four from the existing Benteng LD cluster; and one case from a referred screening from Semporna Hospital to Tawau Hospital,” he said.
