Yeoh was accompanied by her lawyers Gobind Singh Deo and Syahredzan Johan for the questioning, and informed reporters that her mobile phone was confiscated as part of the probe against her.

"We want to thank the police as we found the statement recording was done professionally, and the police did indeed state that if they need further assistance, they would be calling us again.

"However, as of now, and as we mentioned before this, we are ready to extend our cooperation with the police, because for us, we did not commit any offence, but that is also for the police to investigate.

"Yes, they did indeed take Hannah Yeoh’s cellphone to aid in their investigation. We do not have any issue with that, and we have already surrendered it,” Gobind told reporters.

Yeoh said the investigation on her was based on a false post.

"I told the police once again that the statement they are investigating, is a fake one which was never made by me,” she said.

"I have cooperated with the police. I gave them my social media username and password for Facebook, Twitter,” she added.

Yeoh previously told Malay Mail that she had shared the remark on her Facebook page to debunk the false quote being attributed to her.

The quote in question was: "Considering that the deputy minister of women and family development is from PAS, so marriage with minor (to permit sex with children) will spread after this. This is the disease of uncivilised Muslims in this country.”

The investigation is under Section 4(1) of Sedition Act 1948 for seditious tendencies; Section 505© of the Penal Code for statements conducing to mischief; and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network service.
