Covid-19: 31 new cases, no new deaths again today

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 — Malaysia recorded 31 new Covid-19 cases today bringing the total number of cases to 7,009, while no new deaths have been reported.

Health director Datuk Dr Noor Hisham said that out of the 31, ten were imported cases while 21 were locally transmitted.

"Out of the 31, ten were non-Malaysians. We have also discharged 60 people bringing the number of active cases to 5,706 or a 81.41 per cent recovery rate,” he said.

The imported cases are from returning Malaysian from the United States with four cases, two from Singapore, and one from Egypt, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Qatar.

Out of the 31, 15 were detected in Selangor, ten in Kuala Lumpur, two in Putrajaya, and one each in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Sabah.The total number of deaths remains at 114.

Dr Noor Hisham also said that there was no new case reported from the Sri Petaling Mosque cluster.

The number of positive cases remains by 3,347 and only 399 cases are still active.
