KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 — PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin will not be joining Pakatan Harapan partner, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), contrary to rumours.
Her political secretary Nor Hizwan Ahmad said tonight that an alleged letter addressed to PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad along with party membership forms being circulated online are false.
He said these are bad and amateur deeds done by those who are trying to take advantage of PKR’s current internal political situation, referring to a letter purported from Zuraida to Dr Mahathir, along with PPBM membership forms said to be her application.
"I also want to acknowledge that, the letter was written using the Housing and Local Government Ministry’s letter head, is an irresponsible action as it links political matters to the ministry,” Nor Hizwan added in a statement.
Zuraida is also the housing and local government minister and Ampang MP.
The circulation of the letter and PPBM membership forms comes after Zuraida was served a show-cause letter by PKR over her controversial comments against top party leaders last month.
She had also earlier said that she will respond to the show-cause letter within 14 days and hoped the disciplinary board would act fairly and not be influenced by any quarters, including party leaders.
However, she said that she stood by what she said during the December 8 gathering in Renaissance Hotel here, despite the show-cause letter issued to her by the party.
*Editor’s note: An earlier version attributed the statement to Zuraida instead of her political secretary. Malay Mail apologises for the error and confusion.
