MELAKA, May 25 — Only 34 out of 314 resort and hotel kitchens in Melaka have obtained recognised halal certification, according to Melaka Islamic Religious Department (Jaim) director Md Azhan Samat.
He said from the 34 kitchens, two of them were five-star rated resort and hotel, four-star (11), three-star (15), two-star (2) and non-rated (4).
"Only the resort and hotel kitchens with recognised halal certification are allowed to use the ‘Ramadan Buffet’ tagline to avoid doubt among Muslims.
"We hope that more resort and hotel operators in the state will obtain the halal certification from Jaim’s Halal Management Division as soon as possible to avoid doubt among Muslims, including tourists from within and outside the country,” he told Bernama.
Md Azhan said the resorts and hotels which had obtained the halal certification were Bendahara Makmur Hotel, Avillion Legacy Hotel, PNB Ilham Resort, Seri Malaysia Hotel, Seri Costa Hotel, Tanjung Bidara Beach Resort, Amverton Heritage Resort, Air Keroh D’Village, Equatorial Hotel and Kobemas Hotel.
Also MITC Hotel, Mudzaffar Hotel, Swiss Garden & Residences Hotel, Ramada Plaza Hotel, Holiday Inn, A’Famosa Resort, The Emperor Hotel, Bayview Hotel, The Pines Hotel, Sentral Hotel, La Boss Hotel, Kings Hotel, Kings Green Hotel and The Straits Hotel & Suites.
"Ten others are Orkid Hotel, Marvelux Hotel, Novotel Hotel, Sentral Riverview Hotel, Bayou Lagoon Park Resort, Mahkota Hotel, Temasek Boutique Hotel, Puri Hotel, Balik Pulau Hotel and Queenspark Hotel,” he added. — Bernama
