MIRI, May 6 — The police have received seven reports involving various offences which have occurred during the election campaign period at two parliamentary constituencies here.
Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said police were only investigating three reports involving damage caused to posters and political party operation booths as the other reports were found to be baseless.
"Two of the cases occurred in the Miri parliamentary constituency and one was reported in Sibuti parliamentary,” he told reporters after visiting the Ruai Kenyalang Miri Police Headquarters, one of the early voting centres for the Miri and Sibuti parliamentary constituencies this morning.
For GE14 the Miri parliamentary seat is straight fight between BN candidate Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew and incumbent Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng from PKR while the Sibuti parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight involving Sarawak BN’s youngest candidate Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Zulaihi Bakar (PAS) and Jemat Panjang (PKR). — Bernama
