PETALING JAYA, Feb 21 — A rare power outage of several booths at the Sungai Buloh toll plaza caused over an hour of backlogged traffic spanning several kilometres this evening.

According to a Astro Radio Traffic tweet at 7.05pm, motorists travelling from Damansara towards Sungai Buloh on the North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) were told to expect over 40 minute delays.

"Expect about a 40 minute delay from Damansara towards the Sg Buloh toll as several toll booths have been temporarily closed due to a power outage,” read the tweet.

The tweet also said traffic to the city coming through the Duta toll would experience up to half an hour delays.

Facebook user Pine Loh posted a photo at around 6pm, showing backlogged traffic believed to be at the Sungai Buloh toll booth.

"Two SmartTag lanes not functioning at the Sungai Buloh toll! Traffic badly jam!” read the caption of her post.

Warnings of heavy traffic into the city were on the Plus Malaysia Berhad (PLUS)’s official website, however at press time, live video feeds of Sungai Buloh showed smooth traffic along the expressway.

An official statement concerning the supposed power failure has yet to be released by the highway concessionaires.
