KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 ― Police raided today Bersih 2.0's office ahead of the Bersih 5 street protest tomorrow, purportedly under a law prohibiting acts undermining parliamentary democracy.

Bersih 2.0 secretariat member Mandeep Singh tweeted that the polls reform group’s office in Petaling Jaya was being raided and the police purportedly wanted to confiscate all of the group's belongings.

"Bukit Aman in our office. Want to ‘rampas’ (confiscate) all our ‘barang’ (things),” the tweet on @mandeepkarpal read.

He also claimed that the raid was done under Section 124C, likely referring to the provision under the Penal Code.

The police said last September that they are investigating Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah for allegedly trying to topple the government and the prime minister through the Bersih 5 rally.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the head of the electoral reform group was being investigated under Section 124C of the Penal Code, related to acts detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

Those who are convicted face imprisonment of up to 15 years.
