However, the authorities have yet to confirm their identities.

The Orang Asli students of SK Pos Tohoi, comprising six girls and a boy aged between seven and 11, were first reported missing on August 23.

They were believed to have run away from their school hostel for fear of disciplinary action by their teacher for bathing in a river without permission.

In a separate report earlier today, Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Azizah Mohd Dun said the authorities were doing everything they can in the search for the missing children, and that her own ministry will be providing financial aid to the families if needed.

“That is our job, if needed, we will give them all the help they need," she was quoted as saying by online portal Malaysiakini.

She reportedly added that counsellors from the ministry were also on standby for the families involved.

On Wednesday, a villager had found a decomposed body of a girl in Sungai Perias, which was later confirmed to be that of eight-year-old Sasa Sobrie.

The skeletal remains of another child were also found by one of the search parties yesterday, about 800 metres from that of Sasa.

However identity of the body has yet to be confirmed.

The seven pupils that had gone missing are Juvina David, seven; Linda Rosli, eight; Sasa Sobrie, eight; Ika Ayel, nine; Haikal Yaakob, eight; Norieen Yaakob, 10, and Miksudiar Aluj, 11; all of whom are from Kampung Gawin and Penad.
