KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Traffic in Bukit Bintang here had to be diverted again as the water pipe, which was repaired yesterday, burst for the second time at about 3pm today, affecting Jalan Raja Chulan towards Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Bukit Bintang towards Pavilion.

Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), in a statement tonight, said parts of the roads had to be closed again as a safety measure.

Hence, MRT Corp has proposed alternative roads for road users, it added.

Traffic from Jalan Raja Chulan heading for Jalan Tun Razak should turn left to enter Jalan Sultan Ismail at Istana Hotel and continues through Jalan P.Ramlee and Jalan Ampang to go to Jalan Tun Razak.

Motorists can also use Jalan Conlay and enter Jalan Kia Peng to go to Jalan Tun Razak.

Those from Jalan Raja Chulan intending to go to Jalan Imbi should use the slip road besides Pavilion to enter Jalan Bukit Bintang as the right turn is closed before entering Jalan Yap Tai Chi to go to Jalan Imbi.

Traffic from Jalan Conlay heading for Jalan Raja Chulan will be diverted to the slip road besides Pavilion towards Jalan Bukit Bintang.

As the road opposite the Audi showroom is still closed, traffic along Jalan Bukit Bintang from Jalan Tun Razak will be diverted to Jalan Imbi.

The access road to the LTAT and Menara Worldwide buildings could be reached through Jalan Bukit Bintang from Jalan Tun Razak.

“Motorists are allowed to turn right to go to the buildings through an opening created in the road divider along Jalan Bukit Bintang,” said the statement.

MRT Corp will announce updates on the road closure and further information can be obtained from its website, www.mymrt.com.my or www.mymrt-underground.com.my or by calling MRT Corp 1-800-82-6868.

Yesterday, the burst pipe caused a small depression and a 100m stretch of the road was closed to all traffic to minimise any risk to road users. — Bernama
