KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 — The last two years may have seen Malaysia’s share market deliver less than desired results, but changes are expected in the Year of the Dragon.
A feng shui master told Malay Mail however that investors are advised to be cautious.
Yap Boh Chu said the share market will show signs of movement this year compared to the last two years which has been relatively quiet.
"From my reading, while there will be positive signs in the share market, but I would advise investors to tread carefully,” he said, adding that things are only expected to pick up during the Year of the Horse in 2026.
Yap’s prediction on the overall outlook for Year of the Dragon does not look too rosy.
He said the year began with new taxes and the dismal value of the Ringgit which does not seem likely to rebound any time soon.
Fellow feng shui master Kenny Hoo, however, begs to differ.
According to him, the new taxes would help to beef up the government’s coffers.
"This will lead to more projects to be launched which in turn will stimulate the economy,” he said, adding that this would also help to create job opportunities for the people.
Hoo also said the growth centre will be in the Asian region especially China and India during the Year of the Dragon.
"As Malaysia shares close ties with China, we are expected to reap some of the benefits,” he said, adding that a bigger market would be opened to us.
Locally, however, Hoo said our stock markets will record historic highs and lows.
"There will be opportunities for investors and speculators.”
Which animal from the Chinese zodiac will benefit
Yap and Hoo both agree that generally those born under the Snake and Pig sign will prosper in the Year of the Dragon.
According to Yap, those born under the year of the Dog will meet noblemen that will give them a push in the year.
He, however, said those born under that animal sign are also prone to accidents at the workplace.
While there will not be a shortage of suitors during the year, nothing positive will come out from it.
Meanwhile, Hoo said those born under the animal sign of Rabbit, Rooster, Pig and Goat need to be careful with their liver functions, eyesight, limbs and their respiratory system.
He also agrees with Yap that those born under the Year of the Dragon will face a challenging year.
"But it is good to have dragon babies as the dragon sign is considered auspicious to the Chinese,” he said, adding that those born under the animal sign of the Snake, Pig, Rooster and Ox will be easier to conceive.
To give the baby luck a push, Hoo suggested that prospective parents place baby products such as pictures, baby socks, shoes or toys at the south-west direction in the room.
A word of caution from Yap though whereby there is a saying Yi Ming, Er Yun, San Feng Shui, which literally means first is destiny, second is luck, third is feng shui.
"While one’s fate is destined when you are born, bad predictions serve as a warning to be careful. Seek the assistance of feng shui masters to chart your annual luck.”
