The 44-year-old Japanese monk who sings and plays the guitar first caught world attention seven years ago after he went viral for singing the Heart Sutra, a Buddhist chant that teaches compassion.

By bringing Zen music beyond its home turf to live music venues, he has successfully introduced the music’s essence to inspire and resonate with modern-age listeners worldwide.

A deputy abbot at Kaizenji Temple in Imabari, Japan, Yakushiji continues to lead a modest life and remains devoted to his faith, family and music despite his growing rock star status.

Zepp KL marks the tour’s first stop where Yakushiji will be accompanied by an ensemble of musicians on stage to deliver magnetic performances amid captivating visuals and amplified sound for the Malaysian crowd.

The Zen music master will showcase original compositions featuring the style of electronic rock, which is guaranteed to blow the audience away.

After serenading KL, he will continue his global musical journey in Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne and Macao.

Tickets to Yakushiji’s show on October 16 at 8pm, Zepp KL are priced from RM188 to RM388. They are available at http://www.ticketcharge.com.my.
