KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — Billboards flashing congratulatory and welcome home messages for Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh were seen at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport today.
The four LED billboards were set up to pay tribute to the actress who recently received a best actress Oscars.
Billboard provider Meru Utama Sdn Bhd under Ancom Berhad put them up in conjunction with Yeoh’s return home to Malaysia today.
Ancom Logistics Berhad deputy chief executive officer Datuk Hasnul Hassan said he wanted to show Malaysia’s pride for Yeoh.
"We wanted to congratulate her for winning the Oscars. It’s something to be proud of for all Malaysians,” Hasnul told Malay Mail.
"The message was to show her appreciation of the Malaysian people, hopefully, she sees it and recognises that we are very thankful for her.”
Hasnul added that the billboard display was designed by Meru Utama’s in-house team and began preparations with KLIA once Yeoh won her Oscars.
The 60-year-old actress made history when she became the first Asian and Malaysian to win Best Actress at the 95th Academy Awards for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Yeoh arrived in Malaysia at 1.30pm earlier today at Subang Airport, greeting and taking photos with an excited crowd of fans holding signs.
The actress will meet more fans tomorrow in Pavillion Kuala Lumpur at 5.30pm and later in Berjaya Times Square at 7.15pm.
