KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 — A Japanese man has been arrested by police for making 2,060 calls in nine days to verbally abuse them.

The 67-year-old man of Kawaguchi City had been calling the Saitama Prefectural Police telling them they should be fired and calling them "big stupid a**holes” and "tax thieves”, Sora News 24 reported.

Investigations showed the man called police between September 30 and October 8 with a total of 2,060 calls made.

This would mean the man called every six minutes and spent 27 hours on the line with them.

He was finally arrested on November 28.

Police are unclear why the man did what he did but checks on his phone records showed that he had been doing so for years and only ramped up his efforts in recent months.

It was previously reported that a 71-year-old Saitama man made about 24,000 abusive calls to his telecom provider in 2019.

Earlier this year, a 48-year-old Saitama man made about 9,000 train seat reservations only to cancel them at the last minute.
